Strategic Growth Council Visits County’s Round 4 AHSC Project Sites

On January 31, 2019, Los Angeles County welcomed the Strategic Growth Council to tour three proposed Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities project sites in South Los Angeles and West Carson.  At the Community Coalition, County Supervisor Ridley-Thomas and City Councilmember Harris-Dawson shared highlights of the Vermont Manchester Transit Priority Joint Development Project, an innovative mixed-use project to be built on a site vacant since the 1992 civil unrest.  Throughout the tour, presentations were made by housing developers, community residents, the City of Los Angeles and the County Departments of Regional Planning, Public Works, the Community Development Commission, and Chief Executive Office.  The proposals would transform three communities by building approximately 400 new affordable housing units; promoting active transportation; improving access to jobs and neighborhood amenities; and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
