As mentioned elsewhere on this website, AHSC applications require a transportation improvement component alongside the affordable housing development. Eligible transportation improvements include a variety of projects, such as changes to a bus or rail line, bus shelters, bicycle lanes and racks, bike share, and pedestrian infrastructure. Because there is such a variety in the transportation improvements eligible for AHSC, several County departments may be involved in the AHSC application process.

The County of Los Angeles places a high priority on increasing the availability of affordable housing. Toward those efforts, County staff convene an ongoing interdepartmental committee dedicated to supporting the development of AHSC applications. The interdepartmental committee brings all the right players from participating departments to the table.  If your AHSC project is in an unincorporated area, the following County departments and agencies may be involved in supporting your efforts:

  • Chief Executive Office
  • Chief Sustainability Office
  • Los Angeles County Development Authority
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Public Health
  • Public Works
  • Regional Planning
